Terms and Conditions

1. Introduction

Welcome to masoref.com (the “Site”), operated by Maine Association of Soccer Officials, Inc. (“MASO”, “we,” “us,” or “our”). These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Site and any services, features, or content offered on or through the Site (collectively, the “Services”).

By accessing or using the Site, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

2. Effective Date

These Terms are effective as of July 10, 2025 and will remain in effect until modified or terminated as described below.

3. Changes to These Terms

We may revise or update these Terms at any time in our sole discretion. When changes are made, we will post the revised Terms on this page and update the “Effective Date” above. Your continued use of the Site after such posting constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.

4. Access and Use

4.1 Eligibility.

By registering you represent and warrant that you are at least 13 years old. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. Our Privacy Policy includes a dedicated “Children’s Privacy” section explaining how we handle date of birth (DOB), parental rights, data retention and security. If we become aware that we have inadvertently received such information, we will delete it immediately. Parents or guardians who believe their child’s information has been collected in error may contact us at admin@masoref.com to review or request deletion.

4.2 License.

Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the Site for your personal, non-commercial use.

4.3 Account Registration.

You may need to register for an account to access certain features. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information, and to keep your account credentials secure. You are responsible for all activity under your account.

4.4 Age Verification & COPPA Compliance.

Client-side DOB check: You will be asked to enter your DOB. That DOB is validated entirely in your browser and will not be sent to Firestore, Firebase Storage, or any other backend service unless it confirms you are 13 years of age or older.

Under-13 handling: If your DOB indicates you are under 13, you will be blocked from completing registration and any information you entered will be purged locally—no data is ever transmitted or stored.

Parental rights: We comply with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). Parents or guardians may review, correct, or request deletion of any child data we hold by contacting us at admin@masoref.com.

4.5 Communications & Consent.

Transactional Emails: By registering, you consent to receive operational emails—whether sent individually or in groups—for scheduling, support, account verification, password resets, and other account or service-related notifications. These messages are “transactional” under the CAN-SPAM Act and are therefore exempt from the Act’s opt-out requirements.

Organizational Newsletter: We may send a periodic newsletter containing organizational updates, referee resources, and non-commercial information about MASO’s activities. Because its primary purpose is informational rather than promotional, it is treated like a transactional message under the CAN-SPAM Act and is therefore exempt from the Act’s opt-out requirements.

SMS/Text Messages: We send only one-to-one, manually dispatched text messages (no autodialers as defined by the TCPA) to the mobile number you provide for scheduling and other operational reminders. Message and data rates may apply. You may withdraw consent at any time by editing your communication preferences in your account settings.

Phone Calls: We place only live, manually dialed calls (no Automatic Telephone Dialing System) to the number you provide—solely for scheduling, support, or urgent operational updates. To be added to our internal Do Not Call list, please email admin@masoref.com; requests will be honored within 10 business days.

5. User Content

5.1 Definitions.

“User Content” means any text, images, video, or other materials you post, upload, or otherwise make available on or through the Site.

5.2 License to Us.

By submitting User Content, you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, sub-licensable license to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, distribute, and display such User Content in connection with the Site.

You are solely responsible for your User Content. You represent and warrant that you own or have the necessary rights to post it, and it does not infringe any third-party rights.

11. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Maine Association of Soccer Officials, Inc., its affiliates, and their officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of or in any way connected with your use of the Site, your User Content, or your breach of these Terms.

12. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

These Terms and any disputes arising out of or relating to them or the Site will be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Maine, without regard to its conflict of law principles. You agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in the State of Maine.

13. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Site at any time, with or without cause, and with or without notice. Upon termination, the licenses and rights granted to you under these Terms will immediately cease.

14. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.

15. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Maine Association of Soccer Officials, Inc. regarding your use of the Site and supersede all prior or contemporaneous communications.
